Special Work Platforms & Pit Crossing Boards

Below are some examples of Access Platforms we have made in the past for various applications. All units are made to order to suit the requirements of the task.

Cantilever Scaffold

This type of platform is ideal for trades such as Sign Writers, Electricians and decorators who need to access above balconies. Designed to be used where setting up a scaffold from the floor is not practical. Ballast weights are fitted to the rear end of the tower to provide safe, simple access to facing walls above the balcony. The scaffolds are made to order to suit the specific requirements of the task in hand. Because the cantilever clamps onto a normal tower, the kit can also be used as a standard scaffold tower when the cantilever is not in use.

Dealer Desk / High Clearance Platform

This type of tower is suited to trades such as electricians, ceiling fitters and property maintenance. Because there are no braces below the platform, they can be used in offices / warehouses without the need to move desks or machinery. The example pictured is a 3 metre long unit, which is designed to be split in the centre to fit in a lift allowing easy movement between different floors in offices.

Steel Chassis Spandeck Platform

The Spandeck Platform is designed to be used as a permanently set-up unit. The heavy steel chassis eliminates the need for using outriggers to stabilise the platform. Heavy braked swivel castors are provided on each corner of the platform for ease of movement, with heavy duty screw jacks to level the platform on uneven ground. We find these units are ideally suited for trades such as coach builders, train care departments and boat manufacturers as they provide a safe, stable work platform. Steel chassis can also be made to suit standard scaffold towers.

Rail mounted access tower

The lightweight Rail Mounted Bogie provides a cost effective solution for tasks such as overhead line maintenance, with working heights of up to 6 metres. The bogie unit comprises of two independent axle sets, each with 250mm flanged alloy wheels. Weighing only 48kg, two people can easily carry the units. The two axles are simply connected together with two horizontal braces to form a bogie with the correct column centres for the length of tower required - 2m, 2.5m or 3m. The axle is equipped with the following:

  • Fail safe spring loaded brake with a 'positive on' mechanism for added safety and a graduated 'off' for control on slopes.
  • Two spigots for fast and easy mounting of the tower
  • Two track clamps to stabilise the tower
  • Internal anti crabbing rollers to help prevent de-railing

Staircase Tower

This type of tower was designed for access to small aircraft where normal scaffold ladder access would not be practical because of loading and unloading of large objects. Ideal for trades such as cleaners who need a safe, low level access to trains or planes.

Pit Crossing Board

Generally used in the Rail industry, these Pit Boards allow easy access across pits. Lightweight aluminium design, with reversible handrails. Many designs available to suit various pits. 500kg Jacking Boards also available.

Train roof access gantry

Train roof access gantry

Specifically designned for accessing the air conditioning units located on the roofs of trains. The gantry is fixed to the platform either side of the train, and has platforms which drop down onto the roof of the train allowing operatives to service the air conditioning system. This particular walkway was designed for a 5 car train, with platforms at each air con unit. Access to the gantry is by staircase at one end, and ladder at the other. Once the platforms are in position one operative can clean and service an entire train air conditioning system in a matter of hours.
